Family Activities

Finally, an injustice the whole family can enjoy.....

See, we told you it wasn't fair. So much beauty, so much to do – all right in our little valley. So do us the favor of coming up for a visit. It will help ease our conscience. And we suspect you'll probably enjoy it too.

Here are just a few of our favorite things for families to do while visiting Stowe:

Enjoy a round of "golf in miniature" at the Stowe Golf Park.

The course has been professionally designed as a miniaturized golf course which strives to simulate a real golf environment and experience. Fun for both the practised and...not so practiced golfers in your family!

Play at the "Leathers" public playground at Stowe Elementary School.

Local children helped design and raise money for the playground, which includes all the usual toys and a palatial, wooden-turreted climbing structure. The children raised $10,000--the first donor to their "Buy a Board" campaign was Christopher Reeve.

Whizz around at the In-Line Skate Park. Stowe is the site of the nation's first In-Line Skate Park

located at the base of Spruce Peak. The park includes a hockey rink, slalom course, ramps, and a skating oval. Rentals and lessons are available.

Swoosh down a mountain on an Alpine Slide

Stowe's exhilarating 2,300-foot Alpine Slide is located on the slopes of Spruce Peak. It's the only alpine slide in Northern Vermont.

Bike and in-line skate on the Stowe Recreation Path.

The 5.3-mile Recreation Path is paved and relatively flat, perfect for kids of all ages. The award-winning trail starts in Stowe Village, winds through meadows, and crosses the West Branch River on 11 arched wooden bridges. Five shops on or near the Recreation Path offer bicycle rentals. There are more than 70 children's bicycles available to rent, as well as trailers and bike seats. Or try a "trailabike," one-wheel half-bikes that attach to an adult's bicycle. Children can help pedal the trailabike or let their parents do the work when they get tired.

See how gourmet ice cream is made, then tickle your tastebuds with yummy samples. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory Tour,

recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 10 tour experiences in the country, costs only $2 for adults and is free for children 12 and younger.

Visit a real Vermont farm in Stowe.

Guests are welcome at many animal and dairy farms in stowe.

After a long day of playing with the kids, it's only natural that parents might want some romantic time alone. Guests can call Stowe Area Association for a list of 66 local babysitters.
